Hotels rank among the top five in energy consumption within the building sector. It’s estimated that hotels worldwide consume over 100 terawatt-hours of energy annually. To put this into perspective, the Netherlands, one of Europe’s most advanced countries, uses just slightly more energy in an entire year, totaling 108 terawatt-hours.

According to a report from the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, water constitutes 10% of hotels’ utility bills, with a quarter of it stemming from guest rooms. On average, a European tourist consumes about 300 liters of water per day, while the typical European resident uses approximately 150 liters daily.

Adderra has developed an efficient solution for hotels, allowing them to establish room rates that exclude the costs of electricity and water used in guest rooms. Our service enables guests to prepay for water and electricity via a smartphone application and a Bluetooth-enabled prepaid meter.

In this way, Adderra encourages hotel guests to adopt more responsible consumption practices by holding them accountable for covering the costs of water and electricity they plan to use in their rooms.
